When You Have to Sell NOW!

You might be one of those sellers who has to sell your home now. Maybe you are close to losing your home to foreclosure, or perhaps your new construction is almost complete and you can’t close until you sell your existing home.

Whatever the reason, here is a summary of seven tips, courtesy of David Crook with The Wall Street Journal, that you can use to get your home sold fast!

  • Don’t wait! List right now. Even great homes can take time to sell.

  • Clean! Make a great impression the first time a buyer sees your home.

  • Price it right! You’ve got to get out now. Price it just a little below market to make it irresistible to buyers.

  • Get help! Now is not the time to save a few bucks trying to sell it yourself. Hire the best, most aggressive agent and company you can find.

  • Promote! Pay extra for great food at the open house or offer a door prize. Tell your friends and family that your house is for sale and ask them to tell their friends and family. Be creative!

  • Tote the note! If you can, offer to seller finance or carry a second lien.

  • Take what you can get! Like horseshoes and hand grenades, sometimes close is good enough. Don’t lose a qualified buyer over a few thousand dollars or a reasonable repair request.
