I often wonder why someone would think that they can do a job with no training that others are doing after years of training. Yes, I know, sometimes you can represent yourself and you are just fine. Yes, I know that sometimes there are circumstances where doing it yourself is the best option but if you do it yourself are you “getting your money’s worth” and is it really worth it?
I know I don’t know enough about the law to represent myself except in small claims court or to try to get out of a speeding ticket. I also know that is I mess it up and don’t do a good job in the representing, the penalty is not that severe. Anything above small claims court or a speeding ticket – I’m hiring the BEST attorney I can find!
Have you considered trying to build or remodel your own home? Do you know the best sub-contractors in town? How do you know you are getting the best prices? Are they sending their best guys over or are they sending over the 2nd string since you won’t know the difference anyway? Building is not something someone with no experience in the field or knowledge about different contractors and products should consider. Hire someone who knows what they are doing and save money in the long run!
Trying to sell your house yourself? Do you really know everything that needs to be done to get the most out of the property and avoid legal issues today and in the FUTURE? Do you know you are getting the right price and quality and paying the least fees? I think the potential future problems scare me more than anything else.
If you are ready to hire a General Contractor, hire an Attorney, find a new Doctor or find a Real Estate Agent, give me a call. I’ll be glad to direct you to someone I would hire….
