Painting with a Twist in Bryan College Station

What do you get when you throw together paint, wine and creativity? A pretty picture! Painting with a Twist is a new local art studio that is the perfect idea for a night out. Have you ever wanted to decorate your house with original artwork? Or have you wanted to save money by making your own painting instead of spending hundreds on a professional’s work? Have you wondered how close you can get to forging the famous Starry Night? Maybe you need an outlet for all that stress from work. Or maybe you just have a desire to slap some color onto some canvas. If you relate to any of this, then Painting with a Twist is the solution that will bring your dreams to life.

The studio’s motto is quite catchy: “It’s a little bit of paint, a little bit of wine, and a whole lot of FUN!” Who does not love paint, wine and fun? Painting is one of my favorite creative outlets. And I do not know about you but I always want instruction when doing something for the first time. This studio has thousands of pieces of artwork for inspiration, materials like canvasses and paint brushes and lessons taught by local artists for anyone in the community who is interested. Customers can pick from the studio’s calendar what picture they want to paint and call in reservations for that night. The lessons will be guided step-by-step, and upon completing your work of art, you can take it home!

Customers are encouraged to bring their favorite beverages with them. They can indulge in their drinks while they indulge their creativity in the paints. Wine, beer and other beverages are welcomed to the party. By the end of the night, you will feel a certain sense of accomplishment – either because you created a masterpiece or because you have had so much fun. In line with this, all scheduled evening classes are for ages 17 and up and to consume alcohol in the studio, participants must be 21 years of age.

Painting with a Twist is a business franchise of the original Corks N Canvas which was started in 2007 by Cathy Deano and Renee Maloney. These women dreamed up this concept of pairing art lessons with friends, wine and an upbeat instructor to produce creativity. They began in Mandeville, Louisiana and spread to four locations in the Greater New Orleans Area. In 2009, the pair decided to franchise the business as Painting with a Twist. Currently, 71 franchise locations have been sold across the nation. The headquarters are still in Mandeville, and the company holds the artwork copy rights and brand direction of the locations to make sure the idea is consistent.

Both businesses, Corks N Canvas and Painting with a Twist, are immense employers of aspiring artists. These artists are instructors and key players to the success of the company. Most have donated their pieces of art to the company. Their spirit and enthusiasm brings the art party to life when leading a class. The company’s collection of over 1500 pieces of artwork was compiled by around 50 of the company’s instructors. Every work of art was thought up and carried out by the instructors keeping in mind that it needed to be easy enough to follow along with for the novel painter. Pictures range from landscapes, to city lines, abstract pieces, seafood pictures, animals, famous sites to flowers.

Both company owners were fundraisers in the previous positions they held. Because of this, they have kept in mind the idea of finding a way to give back to the community. Painting with a Purpose was created as a monthly event held at all store locations and focuses on raising funds that stay in the local area. Nonprofit organizations that have partnered with Painting with a Twist and Corks N Canvas include: St. Francis Animal Sanctuary, the Al Copeland Foundation, Leaps & Bounds Sports Center and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. During Painting with a Purpose, 50% of the proceeds from the classes are donated to a non-profit organization.

Family days are events that are open to the whole family. Designed for all ages (age six and up is recommended) this class provides entertaining fun for a bonding experience. No alcohol is allowed during the family sessions. Parents of children ages 9 and under are required to accompany their kids and remain on the site for the duration of the event.

If you did not quite have enough time to finish your painting, then you can come in once each month to add touch up or finish up. Artists will be able to guide you through the remainder of your piece of work. This event is free but requires a reservation online. These events can be found on the online calendars and are called S.O.S. classes.

The cost for the two hour sessions is $35.00 and for the three hour sessions is $45.00. Family day is $25.00. Up to 44 people can be seated in the main room and an additional 32 people can fit into the party room. Reservations can be made online or by calling 979-485-9838.

If you are planning a girls’ night out or just an artistic evening with friends, this place is a brilliant idea for a creative, fun night. It is recommended that customers arrive 15-20 minutes early to get all of their supplies and seats selected. Do not forget to pack your camera!

This Friday night, the CENTURY 21 Beal Team of active real estate agents will be enjoying each other’s company and painting together. We can’t wait!
