Should College Station High School have Varsity Sports?
November 29th, 2010 categories: Community Events, Schools
College Station ISD will be opening a new campus, College Station High School, in the fall of 2012. This campus will only be for 9th and 10th graders the first year of operation. Therefore, CSISD must decide what sports to compete at IN THE VARSITY LEVEL for the first two years of operation. CSISD has prepared a short presentation on Wednesday, December 8th at 5:30pm and will be asking for feedback as well as taking questions. The meeting will be at A&M Consolidated High School, in the auditorium. My daughter will be affected by this change, as she will be attending the new high school. Being that she currently loves volleyball and plays for both her school and the Brazos Valley Juniors, I would hope CSISD would have a volleyball program….what do you hope to see? What do you see as pro’s and con’s against having all, some or no varsity level sports in a new high school that only has this age group? I can see that having our 10th grade boys playing football against 12th graders to be dangerous…so should we limit this varsity level to noncontact sports? Or, is it better to put them in the larger arena at a...| Discussion: 2 Comments »

Last night I was privileged to attend a PTO fundraiser at Barnes and Noble Book Store for Forest Ridge Elementary where my daughter attends school! It was a wonderful fundraiser for our school with Barnes and Noble donating a portion of the night's sales to Forest Ridge. There were activities for the children and we enjoyed story time with our principal, Terresa Katt, who read a story about a llama. College Station ISD is so fortunate to have principals and teachers who will take time out of their very busy lives to spend time with our children and help raise money for our wonderful schools! Mrs. Katt is known all around our community as being one of the most giving and caring principals around. She puts her students first and will do anything for them. Whether it is reading to the students at a fundraiser, judging a pie contest at our fall festival, or kissing a pig(which she will do Friday), Mrs. Katt is always ready to do anything for the wonderful students of Forest Ridge and College Station ISD! Stay tuned for my next entry and video of the kissing of the pig on Friday!! Thank you Mrs. Katt and Barnes and...| Discussion: 1 Comment »

The Quality of the CSISD (College Station Independent School District) School Board
March 7th, 2010 categories: Schools
Often times it's difficult to tell whether or not a school, or a school district is “good” or “bad.” Everyone hopes that their child will realize her/his full intellect, but in some schools, a number of students fade into the background and don't learn as much as they could. When moving to a new area, there are a huge amount of things to consider besides which school district is the best for your child, so it's easy to overlook which school is right. However, it's not a very good idea to leave it to fate, as some schools sadly do not perform as well as others; on the other hand, it can be difficult to determine which is which. There are a number of ways to decide; for instance you could look at (more...)| Discussion: Your Comments Please »
