Thank Goodness It’s First Friday

Downtown Bryan is full of things to do on a Friday night, and  First Fridays in Downtown Bryan have even more to offer. Every first Friday of the month Downtown comes alive with sights and sounds the locals bring together. There are art galleries where you can meet and talk with the artist at hand.  Musicians are on almost every block playing for a little cash, but mostly to have a lot of fun.  Almost […]

Fall Decorating Part 2

Make a fall harvest wreath that you can hang over a mirror with ribbon or secure on a door with tacks or sticky strips. To make this beautiful wreath, you will need an 18-inch straw wreath form, four to five bags of dried cornhusks (8 ounces each) and U-pins. You can pick up the husks at any craft store or Mexican food shop. Soak the corn husks in water for about ten minutes or until […]

Grand Stafford Theater Reopens

While walking through Downtown Bryan admiring all of the different venues, I noticed a new one I had not noticed before: The Grand Stafford Theater. This venue reopened the first weekend in September and has a long list of shows lined up over the coming months. Over 100 people showed up for the opening night. The renovations of the Grand Stafford are just part of the revitalization of Downtown Bryan that is currently in the […]

College Station Coffee Houses

Some of my favorite parts of College Station are the coffee shops! Because of the nearby university, the city is littered with eclectic and inspiring coffee houses. The campus alone has several options for those looking for the perfect reading spot or a strong cup of Joe. In the newly renovated MSC, there is a Barnes & Noble shop with a spacious sitting area near their Starbucks coffee bar. The glass walls and bright contemporary […]

Starlight Music Series at Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater

The Starlight Music Series in College Station is a series of concerts organized by the city. Bands come to the Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater and play on Saturday nights during the spring and summer seasons. […]

Art Abounds in Bryan & College Station, Tx

The phrase “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” is something you’ve likely run across at one point or another in your life. It is also probable that on a regular basis you either think about what you count as beautiful or you vocalize it to someone you are with. Beauty is something that unites us and attracts us all, regardless of background, gender or race. But how we define beauty is what sets […]

2010 Lights on in Downtown Bryan

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas especially in Downtown Bryan! My family and I went to the annual “Lights on in Downtown Bryan” where all the lights in the entire downtown area were lit simultaneously! There were many different musical groups and choir performances, a visit by Kaboom, and a countdown to the big flip of the switch! Many businesses were serving hot chocolate and the businesses in downtown were decorated for […]
