Summer Day Camp

summer day camp pictureI admit it. I’m one of “those” moms. You know, the moms who are totally anxious about their kids starting something new. Especially when I can’t be there with them.

I knew this was going to be an interesting summer. My kids are attending the Summer Day Camp sponsored by College Station Independent School District. They have never attended the Summer Day Camp and I didn’t really know what to expect. Not knowing what to expect is torture for anxious moms.

It turns out there was absolutely no need for me to worry at all! I dropped my kids off at Creek View Elementary (the other location for the Summer Day Camp is Rock Prairie Elementary), and off they went to see their friends from school. I barely got a wave goodbye.

The counselors gave me the weekly themed schedule which includes things like a carnival and picnic, swimming, arts and crafts, games, computer time, trips to the movies and so many other activities that I can’t even begin to list them!

There are two groups of campers at the Summer Day Camp. The Junior Camp is for kids in grades K-2 and the Senior Camp is for kids in grades 3-6. The Junior Camp gets to take exciting field trips each week to different places like Kings Orchard, GattiTown and Silverwings skating rink in Brenham. The Senior Camp goes on trips to places like the Houston Zoo, Austin Park and Pizza and Splashtown. The Summer Day Camp hours are 7:30 until 6:00 Monday through Friday or you can choose the half day option from 12:30 to 6:00.

The Summer Day Camp offered by College Station Independent School District is amazing and one of the many wonderful programs available in our community! My kids had a wonderful day…and I don’t have to be anxious anymore!
